Our Trustees

  • Daniel Andrews (Treasurer)

In my professional life I am a chartered accountant with over 24 years’ experience in professional practice with KPMG, and more recently in the commercial sector. I spent 6 years as Group Head of Finance at the food manufacturing group ‘Hain Daniels’, and I am currently Group Financial Controller at ‘Evolution Power Tools’.

I am married to Emma and we have three children who are rapidly growing up! In my spare time (whilst not fulfilling parental taxi responsibilities) I enjoy running, hiking in the Peak District and beyond, and following rugby union.

  • Kevin Goodwin (Chair of Trustees)

I was initially involved in the steering group that shaped the early days of the Family Works, as part of a wider charity, when we became our own charity I was delighted to continue my involvement as Chair of Trustees.

After studying law at university, I have worked in both the private and public sector, most recently as a Tax Professional. I also have significant experience in project and programme management, leading my organisation through several large-scale change processes.

I live in Sheffield and I'm married with two teenage sons and a dog. When I get a chance, I love to ride my bike and have completed several long-distance challenges including Lands End to John O'Groats and Tour du Burundi.

  • Joy French (Faith)

is a priest in the Church of England. She was the director of Perfect Peace, an early intervention project working in estate church toddler groups to offer an introduction to the Christian faith alongside positive mental health support.

Joy has worked with children, young people and families for over 30 years in churches, schools, the NHS and as a foster carer. She has a post-graduate qualification in Infant Observation and Psychoanalytic Studies, and is the co-founder and now a trustee of The Family Works.

  • June Pollard (Safeguarding)

As one of the Trustees of The Family Works we all bring individual expertise, knowledge and a deep commitment to support families move forward and flourish. I am fortunate to have worked in the NHS for over 40 years and am still employed part time as a Children’s Safeguarding Practitioner. I am a registered midwife and am passionate about ensuring services are in place to support vulnerable families and as a result I proactively campaigned for funding and established the Specialist Midwifery Service for pregnant women with drug or alcohol dependancy in 2003 until the service was cut due to lack of funding in 2020.  In my role as the Specialist Midwife Drug and Alcohol use, I worked as a midwife and drug worker (leading the service) to ensure joined up care and with other professionals e.g. probation workers, social workers, health visitors and undertook assertive outreach visits to ensure early engagement and improve positive outcomes for the whole family. We were the early forerunners of Continuity of care in community and the acute setting and using the Common Assessment Framework to Early Help we fully practiced a “Think Family Approach” in midwifery and Safeguarding.

I have spoken nationally on Fetal Alcohol Effects and have organised Conferences and delivered training on the Multi agency Safeguarding Training Programme.  In 2012 and 2014, I was nominated by my colleagues and awarded the “Brilliant” Award and the Chairman’s Award for “showing dedication and unparalleled levels of hard work to do things better”.  This was followed in 2013 when I was recognised and won South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services Award for Best Community Partnership Award in South Yorkshire, implementing safe sleep and fire safety advice across the borough, influencing practice and service development.   Having extensive knowledge gained through working as a Named Midwife for Safeguarding and presently the domestic abuse lead for the trust which I work in, I am passionate about the importance of services working together to improve the life chances of vulnerable families rather than services working in isolation wasting valuable resources and time. Families need highly trained staff who are easily approachable and have a thorough understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences and working in trauma informed way to improve lived experiences and life expectancy. The Family works spearheads this approach and I am proud to be one of its Trustees.
